Our story
It started with a stack of bills
Renata Caldwell spent nine years managing billing for a Savannah hospital. Week after week she met retirees who had chosen a plan from a television ad or a stranger on the phone, and found out too late that their surgeon was out of network or their prescription was not covered.
In 2009 she opened Silver Oak with a simple idea: sit down with people before they enroll, look at their actual doctors and medications, and explain the options in plain English. No quotas, no call center, no pressure.
Seventeen years later the team has grown to five, but most appointments still happen at kitchen tables from Tybee Island to Rincon, and the phone is still answered by someone who knows your name.

- 2009
Renata opens a one-room office on Abercorn Street after nine years in hospital billing.

Seminars begin at the Bull Street Library. The first class has eleven attendees.
